This 6-Day culinary vacation program is just two hours from Barcelona, in the wine producing region of El Priorat where unspoiled scenery and the lack of massive tourism await you.
We pick you up and drop you off in the city.
Six nights accommodation in the town of Gratallops, 6 hands-on Catalan cooking classes, wine tours with full wine tasting, an olive oil tasting presentation class, a visit to the birthtown and museum of the famed modernist architect, Gaudí, a visit to the rice fields of the Ebro river delta and an artisanal producer of premium rices, and a historic cultural excursion, will allow you to develop a grasp on Catalan gastronomy, wines, olive oils and culture, and discover a beautiful landscape in an authentic surrounding.
In addition, we offer the Grape Harvest option in September, the Olive Harvest option in November, and the Christmas Special in December.

-We only cater to a maximum of six to seven people, so as to convey as much personal attention as you may need.
-We use exclusively fresh and organic ingredients from as many local farmers and producers as possible.
-We serve only quality DOQ Priorat wines and DO Montsant wines.
-Accommodation is in private room with en-suite bathroom bathroom and with all of the modern and comfortable amenities, at a beautiful hotel in the pituresque hilltop town of Gratallops.
-We provide our own transport to and from Barcelona
-Our prices are all-inclusive.

This 6-Day culinary vacation is our most complete offering and extends the 3 or 4-Day programs much beyond the basic Catalan cooking techniques and more standard dishes. Whether you travel solely to spend six days with us, or you combine it with some time in Barcelona, it is a great way to discover a part of Catalonia, Spain that is still untouched by the commerce of massive tourism, and where the small towns that comprise the region are much as they were many years ago, and still dedicated to the agriculture of grapes, olives, almonds and hazelnuts, and mainly to the production of wine and olive oil. The Priorat region has been hailed as one of Spain's best wine producing areas, and the olive oils made here are truly world-class as well. It is still an authentic part of Spain, with beautiful and unspoiled landscapes to discover.
With multiple cooking classes of approximately two to three hours each, it is a perfect introduction to the techniques and elaboration of some of the best dishes in Catalan cuisine. Visits to local Priorat wine producers and vineyards, with full winery tour and tasting will allow you to discover and appreciate the fantastic DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant wines. These tours are always given by either the owner or the enologist, and are very personalized, informative, and fun. An official olive oil tasting presentation given by a professional technician will let you discover the incredible DO Siurana olive oils and teach how olive oils are made, classified and tasted, and a cultural excursion to a historic site will enable you to learn of the area's history.
Furthermore, two half days are dedicated to some interesting and original excursions:
The "Gaudí Tour" where we take you to Reus for a full tour with professional English speaking guide to discover the birthplace and museum of the famed modernist architect of the Barcelona Sagrada Famila cathedral. The museum is unique and you will be an expert on Gaudí, by the time you are finished! You will also visit some of the buildings created by his contemporary modernist architect, Domenech i Muntaner, designer of Barcelona's spectacular and famed Palau de la Música.
The "Rice Tour"during which we take you to the Ebro river delta rice fields where the reknown "Bomba" paella rice is grown, and a local artisanal rice producer who still uses a century old mechanical mill, shows you how he elaborates some of the finest Bomba, Maresme, Caranoli and Gran Reserva rice for many of the Michelin star restaurants of the Barcelona area.
In September, we also offer the "Grape Harvest Special", during which a day is spent harvesting grapes along with the whole wine producer's family, after which we all sit down to a typical harvesting al-fresco lunch. In November there is the "Olive Harvest Special" during which a day is spent harvesting the local "Arbequina" variety of olives, having a true al-fresco harvest lunch, and going to the press where the first fresh, green, cold-pressed oil starts flowing from.

In this program, which is only offered once a year during the harvest in September, we spend part of a day with one of the local Priorat wineries, helping their family and crew pick grapes, fill the tractor, and start the yearly process of a new vintage. We then indulge in a true harvesting tradition: The al-fresco lunch, which Catacurian prepares for all involved. The delicious food obviously accompanied by those incredible DOQ Priorat/DO Montsant wines!

In this program, which is only offered once a year during the harvest in November, we spend part of a day in one of the surrounding olive groves, helping the family pick olives. Have you ever wondered how olives are picked? Why some are green and others are black? How the olives are prepared before pressing, and what determines that an olive oil is extra virgin or not? What fresh olive oil tastes like? All these questions will be answered.....first hand!
After the picking we then all indulge in a true Catalan harvesting tradition, which is the al-fresco lunch, prepared for all by Catacurian, and had in the fields with some of those incredible DOQ Priorat/DO Montsant wines.

For the scaled pricing system, the "Number of People Attending" refers to how many are actually booked for the particular session, and not how many people you must have in your party.

If you are a single group of 4, there is an additional discount of 5%.
If you are a group of 5 or 6, there is an additional discount of 10%.

All rates include:

- 10% IVA (Value added Tax).
- Transport to and from Barcelona Plaça de Espanya
- 6 hands-on Catalan cooking classes
- 6 nights accommodation at a beautiful hotel in Gratallops
- 6 lunches including 5 restaurant lunches
- 6 breakfasts
- 6 dinners
- 3 Priorat winery visits with wine tasting
- 1 private olive oil tasting presentation
- 3 cultural excursions
- All of the DOQ Priorat/DO Montsant wines, Cava, and apéritifs served during classes and meals
- Catacurian recipe book
- All transport and entrance fees for the excursions

- We are sorry, but we do not pick-up or drop-off at individual hotels.

- A 400€ deposit assures a reservation date, and full payment is due no later than 30 days prior to the reserved trip.

- Reservations are accepted at any time, even "last minute" decisions but are of course subject to availability. In this case full payment is due at the time of the reservation.

- The maximum number of guests we can accept is 7.
